The
Mexican Gold Peso
contains 1.2057 ounces of gold and an alloy of 90% gold and 10% copper.
The coins have been issued periodically between 1921 – 1972. The Mexican Gold 50 Peso coin typically sells at one of the lowest premiums over spot price of any world gold coin.
The obverse of the Mexican Gold 50 Peso has an image of Winged Victoria, with a laurel wreath in her right hand and broken chains in her left. Two dates appear to the left and right
of Victoria. The left date of 1821 commemorates the date of Mexico’s independence.
The date on the right shows the date minted. The reverse depicts the Mexican coat of arms of an eagle perched on a cactus with a serpent in its beak.
